about
Along with the announcement of debut full-length Stay Safe! (June 16th, 2023 via Mothland), La Sécurité (Montréal/Tiohtià:ke) presents a fierce post-punk earworm about grief and losing an unborn child. As a genuine headbanger/tear-jerker, “Anyway” aptly showcases the collective’s dichotomous equilibrium, which oscillates between fun, danger, a will to live unabashedly and care, security, also touching on the frailty of life itself. Fast, catchy and engaging, this new offering from the fiery five-piece should find a niche with discotheque rats looking for a steady stream of bittersweet art punk.
lyrics
Oh, you
Such a little person
With your ordeals
And big girl problems
She wasn't really ready anyway for you
Taking up all her headspace from truth
You made his heart stop
There was no barter
So you cry alone
And it’s no bother
She wasn't really ready anyway for you
Taking up all her headspace from truth
Didn’t ask for the getaway from this
She wasn't really ready anyway for you
Taking up all her headspace for this
She wasn't really ready anyway for you
Oh, you
Such a little person
With your ordeals
And big girl problems
You made his heart stop
There was no barter
So you cry alone
And it’s no bother
Oh, you
Such a little person
With your ordeals
And big girl problems
You made his heart stop
There was no barter
So you cry alone
And it’s no bother
A four-track bout between two of Australia's most formidable post-punk groups, fueled by wiry guitar riffs and vibrant, timely lyrics. Bandcamp New & Notable Oct 19, 2022
The great underlying instrumentation paired with Florence's droll stream of consciousness lyrics make this album stand out. It feels so personal and confessional. Favorite tracks are Strong Feelings and Leafy. I've heard Scratchard Lanyard on alt radio and love that one as well. tofupotpie
